Jay Chow decline to compete dancing skill with Rain

Well-known for his outstanding singing skill, Jay who held his concert at Su-Zhou, has not been affected by his strong rival - Rain. In his concert, he even performed “Hip Hop” dance but Jay commented that he has no interest to compete dancing skill with Rain, he praised Rain saying that “He is good at his dance”
Two nights ago, Jay held his concert at Su-Zhou sport stadum, attracting 60,000 audience, he even include a “Hip Hop” dance item, the audiences were so mesmerized. When Jay had a duet with group “Nan Zhuan Ma Ma”, two fans suddenly broke thru the security line to go up stage to give Jay a bouquet of flowers, giving him a big fright, he then persuaded them “Please get off the stage to watch our performance, you had made us feel awkward”

On the other hand, there was rumor that his girlfriend is pregnant? Step aside, Bae Yong Joon. Here are the hottest actresses and new heart-throbs from kimchi land, writes FOONG WOEI WAN.

THE hottest Korean TV series now, Jewel in the Palace, is about the ascent of a woman in male-dominated ancient Korea.

And this may well be the year that Korean Wave poster boys such as Bae Yong Joon and Lee Byung Hun make way for rising Korean actresses.

The new trend is arguably thanks to the popularity of Jewel, which has been a bona fide hit across Asia in the past year.

In Hong Kong, it made household names of its female-dominated cast, from lead actress Lee Young Ae to supporting actress Yang Mi Gyeong.

Lee, already an acclaimed actress, found greater fame after she had taken on the lead role of Suh Jang Geum, a woman who goes from palace cook to royal physician.

She then starred in a Korean box-office hit, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, directed by Park Chan Wook of Old Boy fame. The movie has earned more than US$20mil (RM75mil) in South Korea and wowed critics at the recent Venice Film Festival in Italy.

Park Eun Hye, who played Jang Geum’s bosom buddy in Jewel, is also having a good year. She is now in Qingdao, China, shooting a Taiwanese TV show produced by Angie Chai of Meteor Garden fame. Her co-star is no less than F4’s Vic Chou.

And she’s not the only Korean actress crossing over to Chinese entertainment.

Kim So Yeon, who is in the Tsui Hark martial arts movie Seven Swords, turned heads in Venice, where the film opened the fest on Aug 31.

As for her compatriot Kim Hee Seon, she can be seen opposite kungfu superstar Jackie Chan in the blockbuster The Myth.

Korean actresses are, in a word, hot. Here’s five to look out for:

Lee Young Ae, 34

Lee Young Ae produced a startling performance in Jewel in the Palace.

Who: With her doleful eyes and fine features, she looks like a younger Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia. Also nicknamed the “female Bae Yong Joon” by Japanese journalists for her newfound popularity across Asia.

As Bae did with the TV hit Winter Sonata (2002), she has won housewives’ hearts with her role in Jewel in the Palace.

When she started out in 1993, she did a chocolate commercial with Cantopop king Andy Lau, who didn’t know her name then.

Now he does, after catching Jewel. He told the press that they talked on the phone when she was in Hong Kong recently.

She has also starred in TV serials like Papa (1996) with Bae and Invitation (1999); and movies like Joint Security Area (2000) – also directed by Park Chan Wook – which was the most-watched Korean title at the time.

What’s next: She seems to have her heart set on Japan. In Venice about two weeks ago, she postponed an interview with the international press, saying she was sick.

Hours later, however, she was seen talking to Japanese reporters, said Hong Kong’s Apple Daily.

But can you blame her? At her age, time is money.

Song Hye Kyo, 24

Who: South Korea’s sweetheart. She made her name in Asia as one half of the star-crossed couple in the watershed TV weepie, Autumn in My Heart (2000).

She has since starred in three other hit TV series, namely Hotelier (2001), All In (2003) and Full House (2004).

She famously fell for her All In co-star Lee Byung Hun on the set. When they split up last year, it was the hottest story in the Korean showbiz world.

What’s next: Somebody has finally had the sense to cast her in a movie. She will be seen next year in an adaptation of the Japanese best-selling book, Crying Out Love in the Centre of the World, opposite My Sassy Girl actor Cha Tae Hyun

Son Ye Jin, 23

Who: Talented actress who has worked with many of South Korea’s top filmmakers and TV directors.
She acted in Chihwaseon (2002), an acclaimed historical drama by Im Kwon Taek, the grand old man of Korean cinema. Also starred in The Classic (2003), a movie by My Sassy Girl’s Kwak Jae Young, and in Summer Scent (2003), a TV series by Winter Sonata’s Yun Seok Ho.

What’s next: Her new movie, April Snow, in which she stars as Bae Yong Joon’s lover, may just be the one to make her a major star.


Kim Hee Seon, 28
Who: Known for years as the “first beauty of South Korea” before Kim Tae Hee came along, she has remained popular for about a decade.
In spite of her lead roles in movies like Bichunmoo (2000) and TV series like Sad Love Song (2005), she sometimes seems famous simply for being famous.

Still, she is such a big name in China that Jackie Chan cast her in his latest action film, The Myth.

What’s next: She is said to be venturing into Japan soon.

A press conference was held in Seoul, capital city of South Korea over the weekend. Rain said that though his forth album is still in production, the concert will feature old songs from his former three albums.

His dance teacher and female singer Star from his record company has been invited to perform at the concert.

Jointly held by Chinese entertainment giants, China Record Company-HK Emperor Entertainment Group and the Taiwan Jushi Music, the concert will surely catch eyes of millions of Beijing fans.

Concert tickets did not go on sale to the public until September 15, but fans in Beijing have already started a ticket-snatching frenzy. His popularity in China almost made some sponsors shift their favor from Taiwan superstar Jay Chow.

Rain's Hong Kong concert was so hot at the beginning of September as chaos erupted everywhere he went and tickets were sold out only several hours after it they went on sale.

"Full House" made Rain's popularity sweeps 3 places, China, HK and Taiwan. He successively went to Hong Kong and Beijing meets Fans,
except Taiwan. Because the fans desparately wanted to see their idol, they gathered 30,000 fans's (signatures?) to ask Rain to promote
in Taiwan. Rain originally planned to Taiwan next year, maybe go earlier. He will go to Taiwan for a commercial activity in October!


Since Korea drama "Full House" aired in Taiwan, the ratings continously went up, including female actress SHG who went to Taiwan
was also greatly welcomed. Only Rain still has no news of stepping foot in Taiwan. Local fans personally held an activity
"Invite Rain to Taiwan for activity". They collected fans signatures from separate venues including fasimiles, mails,
online contacts and gathering on the many streets, at schools on Taiwan North-West Gate Road, Taiwan Middle, etc. Within

Rain who's busy filming the new drama "Love that deserves to die", originally planned to go to Taiwan during his Asian concert tour,
but Taiwan is raising a "thirst for Rain tide". Even though he didn't promote in Taiwan, but earlier he released his CD "Its raining"
in Taiwan which sold 50,000 cds becoming the most popular sales for Korean singers beating Boa's record.

Rain is also welcomed by Taiwan advertisement agencies, after one of the sponsors for Korean cosmetics Vonin CF was released in Taiwan, increased
their product sales, alot of advertising agencies flew to South Korea to invite them to work together. Accordingly, Rain has a high probability

According to Rain's HK manager Chan Ka Ying, after many discussions, but because Rain is busy making drama,
its hard to stop his work for more days to concerts. So concerts can't be added. He can only hurry to HK on
the 7th of next month for HK press conference and dress rehearsal, then continously have 2 concerts, after he
has to immediately return to Korea and continue making his drama. His schedule is very tight.


Crushing votes beat Jay Chow
Because of "Full House", in Thailand it gained 64% super high viewership, making Rain's popularity skyrocket.
Not only his CD "its Raining" sold over 10,000 but Thailand's Virgin TV station held Virgin Radio Hitz 40 Award
on the 17th; resulting in Rain capturing this year's new additional award "Asia best singer award".
This award category is voted by Thailand music lovers. According to reports, Rain beat Seven, Wang Le hom, Jay Chow
and other singers. The awards ceremony was held in Bangkok BEC Teo Hall, Rain couldn't personally accept the award,
but he thanked fans over a video recording. He said "Thank you Asian fans for your warm support, I am currently filming
the drama "Love that deserves to die", I hope in the new drama and next year's new CD, I can show my more splendid
appearance to everyone."


Invited to attend US MTV awards
Moreover, Last month on the 28th, Rain went attended MTV music awards ceremony. Last night South Korean MTV station
broadcasted his news brief of his trip. Rain is the only Asian singer to be invited to the awards, he spoke English at the interview
and with his fans. Rain's english is very fluent.

"Full House" made Rain's popularity sweeps 3 places, China, HK and Taiwan. He successively went to Hong Kong and Beijing meets Fans,
except Taiwan. Because the fans desparately wanted to see their idol, they gathered 30,000 fans's (signatures?) to ask Rain to promote
in Taiwan. Rain originally planned to Taiwan next year, maybe go earlier. He will go to Taiwan for a commercial activity in October!


Since Korea drama "Full House" aired in Taiwan, the ratings continously went up, including female actress SHG who went to Taiwan
was also greatly welcomed. Only Rain still has no news of stepping foot in Taiwan. Local fans personally held an activity
"Invite Rain to Taiwan for activity". They collected fans signatures from separate venues including fasimiles, mails,
online contacts and gathering on the many streets, at schools on Taiwan North-West Gate Road, Taiwan Middle, etc. Within
a month, they collected 30,000 signatures.

The activity started by "Bi with Rain", earlier sent 30,000 signatures to Rain's Korea management company JYP. JYP has also
confirmed receiving 30,000 Taiwan fan's contact and has told Rain about it. Last year, Rain participated in MTV activity in
Taiwan. He never forgot Taiwan. In July when he went to HK for promotions, he was interviewed by Taiwan TV station. When asked
when he toured Asia, how come he left out Taiwan. He spoke frankly "I really wanted to go to Taiwan, but no one invited me to go,
if I have the chance, of course I want to go. I remember last time I participated Summer Day High summit, I ate siu loong bao,
I always remember that taste, if I have a chance I really want to go back to eat it again."

Rain who's busy filming the new drama "Love that deserves to die", originally planned to go to Taiwan during his Asian concert tour,
but Taiwan is raising a "thirst for Rain tide". Even though he didn't promote in Taiwan, but earlier he released his CD "Its raining"
in Taiwan which sold 50,000 cds becoming the most popular sales for Korean singers beating Boa's record.

Rain is also welcomed by Taiwan advertisement agencies, after one of the sponsors for Korean cosmetics Vonin CF was released in Taiwan, increased
their product sales, alot of advertising agencies flew to South Korea to invite them to work together. Accordingly, Rain has a high probability
of going to Taiwan in October to attend a spokesman activity. As a spokesman, he is charging as high as 16,000,000 TWD (4,000,000HKD).

Although the 2 serials I’ve acted in before did receive some good reviews, but I know it is due to the characterisation of the roles. ( I think he is saying that he acted well not due to his own talent, but because roles given to him were interesting and good.) In order to improve, I need to learn from my seniors. And I do not wish the audience to have a stereotype of the roles ( Sorry, I cant figure that word out…滑稽角) I can act, thus I am picking my roles with care. Be it acting or singing, one should do the best."

I was able to watched CETV ystrday 6pm(their version of showbiz extra yata) ang saya ko kc na feature c RAIn..actually ung word na Rain lng nga naintindihan ko hahaha..pero daming video clips pinakita about kay rain… sna nga may replay non!

May one clip pa nga na pra mkaiwas c rain sa mga photographer/paparazi ung isang guy same body type ni rain pinasuot nila ng damit katulad kay rain..(nka sando, shades and cap) tpos un ung lumabas sa hotel at hinabol ng mga photographer..natawa nga ako nong pinakita un na clip!

Hosted by hip-hop artist Diddy, the event will be attended by Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Missy Elliott, U2, and Coldplay and The Killers. To incorporate the host’s party style, the event will use a white carpet instead of a red carpet for artists to walk on in the ceremony.

Green Day leads all artists with eight nominations for their videos ``Boulevard of Broken Dreams’’ and ``American Idiot.’’ Elliott has six for her clip ``Lose Control,’’ with Gwen Stefani and U2 holding five each.

Rain has become the spokesman of a skincare product (DHC), he had shot a CF recently. The actress is a mixed blood (England mixed China), Nikki, they act together for a warm romantic story.

The shooting location was in a luxurious house, it even have a in-house swimming pool. Rain showed his leisurely side, he wore in white shirt and pants just like a prince on a white horse. The CF have three versions, Rain and Nikki act as lovers, he was taking good care of his girlfriend, and played the finger-guessing game with her, also massage for her. In the CF, Rain feel like want to “kill” his girlfriend by showing his charming eyes and smile. During the shooting, they showed an unspoken consensus and act like really falling in love.

Rain felt very happy to shoot a CF in Hong Kong, he said the working condition did not have a big different between Hong Kong and Korea, both staff in Hong Kong and Korea were also very serious. In the earlier time when the poster advertisement has shown up in MTR station, there had fans to stand in front of the poster and took a photo.

"Full House" made Rain's popularity sweeps 3 places, China, HK and Taiwan. He successively went to Hong Kong and Beijing meets Fans,
except Taiwan. Because the fans desparately wanted to see their idol, they gathered 30,000 fans's (signatures?) to ask Rain to promote
in Taiwan. Rain originally planned to Taiwan next year, maybe go earlier. He will go to Taiwan for a commercial activity in October!

Since Korea drama "Full House" aired in Taiwan, the ratings continously went up, including female actress SHG who went to Taiwan
was also greatly welcomed. Only Rain still has no news of stepping foot in Taiwan. Local fans personally held an activity
"Invite Rain to Taiwan for activity". They collected fans signatures from separate venues including fasimiles, mails,
online contacts and gathering on the many streets, at schools on Taiwan North-West Gate Road, Taiwan Middle, etc. Within
a month, they collected 30,000 signatures.

The activity started by "Bi with Rain", earlier sent 30,000 signatures to Rain's Korea management company JYP. JYP has also
confirmed receiving 30,000 Taiwan fan's contact and has told Rain about it. Last year, Rain participated in MTV activity in
Taiwan. He never forgot Taiwan. In July when he went to HK for promotions, he was interviewed by Taiwan TV station. When asked
when he toured Asia, how come he left out Taiwan. He spoke frankly "I really wanted to go to Taiwan, but no one invited me to go,
if I have the chance, of course I want to go. I remember last time I participated Summer Day High summit, I ate siu loong bao,
I always remember that taste, if I have a chance I really want to go back to eat it again."

Rain who's busy filming the new drama "Love that deserves to die", originally planned to go to Taiwan during his Asian concert tour,
but Taiwan is raising a "thirst for Rain tide". Even though he didn't promote in Taiwan, but earlier he released his CD "Its raining"
in Taiwan which sold 50,000 cds becoming the most popular sales for Korean singers beating Boa's record.

Rain is also welcomed by Taiwan advertisement agencies, after one of the sponsors for Korean cosmetics Vonin CF was released in Taiwan, increased
their product sales, alot of advertising agencies flew to South Korea to invite them to work together. Accordingly, Rain has a high probability
of going to Taiwan in October to attend a spokesman activity. As a spokesman, he is charging as high as 16,000,000 TWD (4,000,000HKD).

Having gained his popularity from Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan Fans after the telecast of TV drama [Full House], the Korean Heavenly King Rain yesterday revealed to Oriental Daily News that he will hold his First Solo Concert at Beijing Workers Gymnasium on 22nd next month. Yesterday was the official commencement of sale of Rain’s Beijing concert tickets at [Jung Chang Ying Hwang] office, the most expensive tickets of CY1,880 have been grabbed up within one hour – a true extraordinary charm of Rain.

Fans upon hearing the news of Rain holding a concert in Beijing were thrilled and have earlier started queuing overnight to wait for yesterday’s public sale. There were even two female fans each holding cash of CY230,000 and CY250,000 joining the ticket sale queue. There were fans coming from Korea, Japan etc.

Complaints from Hong Kong Fans
Though the public sale of concert tickets only accept cash purchase, however, company cheques are acceptable for group purchase of tickets. As explained by [Jung Chang Ying Hwang] General Manager Ms Lin Bao Lian, they have liaised with the Bank’s Security company to provide security service at the sale office on the day of public sale, and to deliver sale cash money to be deposited to the Bank. As Rain’s Beijing Concert ticket sale is only available at [Jung Chang Ying Hwang] office, they have received many enquiries and complaints from Hong Kong Fans for the past few days. With this reason, they have considered to put up ticket booths at their Hong Kong (Emperor Entertainment Group office) in order to allow Hong Kong Fans to purchase these concert tickets.

On the other hand, during the earlier commercial shoot of DHC, Rain gave massage to the female model in the CF, an act that envious to many. The female model later praised Rain for having superb massage skill, Rain responded saying [I was a born masseur!]. In response to Rain who has succeed in taking over Jay Chou as the new ambassador, DHC expressed that the contract with Jay has ended.

Train hard for new TV drama
Of recent, Rain attended the praying ceremony before the shooting of the new TV drama [This d**med Love], Rain appeared as a K1 fighter look, with bandages on his right face, he was very immersed in his role, everyday he trained hard on boxing and fencing. Rain and Shin Mina worked together again, both singing praises to each other, Rain praised that the female lead has become prettier while Shin Mina commented that Rain has grown to be more manly than before.

Real name: Jeong Ji-Hoon (not to be mistaken for My Sassy Girl star Jeon Ji-Hyun)

Call him the Korean Aaron Kwon... except he can hold a tune. The former back-up dancer and choreographer made his singing debut in 2002 with First Drop, whose mix of funk, hip-hip and R&B, coupled with his slick music videos, instantly won him legions of fans and a clutch of newcomer awards. Female model praised Rain superb massage skill

Having gained his popularity from Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan Fans after the telecast of TV drama [Full House], the Korean Heavenly King Rain yesterday revealed to Oriental Daily News that he will hold his First Solo Concert at Beijing Workers Gymnasium on 22nd next month. Yesterday was the official commencement of sale of Rain’s Beijing concert tickets at [Jung Chang Ying Hwang] office, the most expensive tickets of CY1,880 have been grabbed up within one hour – a true extraordinary charm of Rain.

Fans upon hearing the news of Rain holding a concert in Beijing were thrilled and have earlier started queuing overnight to wait for yesterday’s public sale. There were even two female fans each holding cash of CY230,000 and CY250,000 joining the ticket sale queue. There were fans coming from Korea, Japan etc.

Complaints from Hong Kong Fans
Though the public sale of concert tickets only accept cash purchase, however, company cheques are acceptable for group purchase of tickets. As explained by [Jung Chang Ying Hwang] General Manager Ms Lin Bao Lian, they have liaised with the Bank’s Security company to provide security service at the sale office on the day of public sale, and to deliver sale cash money to be deposited to the Bank. As Rain’s Beijing Concert ticket sale is only available at [Jung Chang Ying Hwang] office, they have received many enquiries and complaints from Hong Kong Fans for the past few days. With this reason, they have considered to put up ticket booths at their Hong Kong (Emperor Entertainment Group office) in order to allow Hong Kong Fans to purchase these concert tickets.

On the other hand, during the earlier commercial shoot of DHC, Rain gave massage to the female model in the CF, an act that envious to many. The female model later praised Rain for having superb massage skill, Rain responded saying [I was a born masseur!]. In response to Rain who has succeed in taking over Jay Chou as the new ambassador, DHC expressed that the contract with Jay has ended.

Train hard for new TV drama
Of recent, Rain attended the praying ceremony before the shooting of the new TV drama [This d**med Love], Rain appeared as a K1 fighter look, with bandages on his right face, he was very immersed in his role, everyday he trained hard on boxing and fencing. Rain and Shin Mina worked together again, both singing praises to each other, Rain praised that the female lead has become prettier while Shin Mina commented that Rain has grown to be more manly than before.

Rain, who is just like a tornado in HK, give us "Jessica" a chance to interview him in his tight and busy schedule and to take this unique photos in HK media.

Rain, whose original name is Jeong Ji-hun, is only 23 year-old, but he has entered the stage for 7 years. With a poor childhood, Ji-hun entered the music circle at the age 16. Drank dancing steps

Rain turned from a normal secondary student to the leader of the "Han-nyu". What and how much he paid is without any doubt.
Park Ji-young is being regarded as the key of turning this normal student to a great star. He goes back to his memory 5 years ago, and said "Rain's performance attracted me, he was doing every kind of performance without showing any tired faces. This made me felt that he is not a usual person!" On the other hand, Rain indicates that Park Ji-young is a teacher he respects a lot, "without him, I am sure there will not be "Rain". It's hard to compare our dancing as they are in different styles. We both do our best in our dancing!"
Actually, although Rain learns from Park Ji-young, he stills owns his unique dancing. Rain's dancing is rhythmic and full of energy, plus the absorption of outside elements(for example the drank dancing steps). Rain said " I think I can express everything through dancing."

It's not a temporary success
At March and July 2005, Rain had went China for the promotion of his album "It's Raining" and attending the MTV award.
The order quantity of the album is 100 thousands pieces, which is the record of Korean albums released in China. In Sept 2005, Rain held 2 concerts in Budokan which got 10 thousands fans' support. And for the concerts going to hold in HK, the tickets were all sold out in a minute.
Rain's success in these 3 years is not easy to get even others work 10 or 20 years more. It always make a person get lost under the situation of being supported by thousands and millions fans. However, to Rain, he is surely not falling into the trap. He will be a long-lasting King. That's because he is not only a star of the stage, he walked through poor and hard conditions.
Rain's childhood was as sad as the sorrow Korean drama. He lived with his parents and sister in a small metal house at the back of the market while he was young.
Due to daddy's failure in business, it was his Mom to bear the duty to earn money for the family. She sold "ttoh-bo-kki" in the market and her good son Rain always help in the shop. Rain and his sister were both introvert and silent because of the heavy duty from family.
"This charater insist till this moment. People have to spend a lot of time if he/she wants to get closer to me."Rain said.
Afterwards, his Mom died from diabetes, while his Daddy went to Brazil for work.
That's the wound which can never be cured deep inside Rain's heart but also the power for him to success.
