Chinese media reported, "Rain was given a great deal of weight on the concert held under Jakie Chan."

Chinese media were most interested in Rain who had taken part in the concert as a guest, under Jakie Chan, in Beijing, on the evening of the 1st.

Just came back!
Although I lived in Seogwipo, I still wanted to go to Jeju autography party.
Thus, I decided to take the earliest bus to Jeju with friend.
Cause I woke up late, I had to take the next bus. Friend who caught the earliest one, had arrived at 8:00 AM and got the no. 172 ! ! !

Rain's fans were willing to staying up all night to participate in his 6to5 autography party.

Rain saw more than 500 overseas fans through his 6to5 autography party in Teddy Bear Museum, alias Teseum, in Jeju Island, on the 9th.
Rain's Japanese fans spending 'Golden Week', long time holidays in a row, visited Jeju 6to5 shop in large numbers, which made the scene of the event get heated.

A person from J.Tune entertainment expressed, " Rain's overseas fans crowded to keep good seats from the early morning, and some kept their seats from the night of the 8th. All of the fans maintained order, so we were able to get through the event without incident."

Lotte which has used summit-level Korean Wave stars such as Rain, 'Bae Yong-Joon', 'Song Seung-Heon',
and so on, as their advertising character, currently showed a new CM song film, and total 10 Korean Wave stars participated in the film.

As many as 10 stars, 'Rain', 'Song Seung-Heon', 'Park Yong-Ha', 'Ji- Seong', 'Kang Ji-hoan',

I took the second seat in the stand toward back, and rarely saw Rain by the audiences' standing up at a time.

The open-air theater seemed to be a little smaller than Olympic Gymnastic Stadium, nonetheless, around 20,000 visitors seemed to crowd into the place.

Rain, who wore his red wine color hair which goes well with his skin like a white gem, showed his appearance enough to sparkle brightly.

When Rain came out in all black dressing up and down, I was able to hear thunderous cheers in the stand. The male audiences' cheers were no less than the female's.

The crowd sent up rousing even when he only took off his sunglasses slightly and smiled. And, it goes without saying that Rain performed with his own charisma and kept the audiences under his thumb all through the concert.

World star Rain's first trainee will debut in July. Rain will be stopping in HK soon and his management company J.Tune Entertainment spoke to Newsen over the phone in April, "Rain's new female trainee is set to debut in July."

This new person is Rain's first trainee after his departure from JYP. According to what was expressed by the company, this female singer is 16 years-old and a high school student. Currently her music album has been completed, and she will be working on her music video soon.

June-07-2009]Rain's Hong Kong fashion concert was a great success amidst over 5,000 Hong Kong fans' hearty cheers.

Singer Rain held the fashion concert in 'Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Center' on the night of June 6th, to promote his clothing brand 6to5.

At the first part progressed in the form of a fashion show, more than 30 home and foreign models put on 6to5 clothes and appeared on the stage, which arrested the audience's attention.

Especially, actress 'Lee Da-Hye' who belongs to the same agent as Rain does, whose appearance was really impressive.

At the second part following the first, Rain sang his 10 hit songs, such as Rainism, How to avoid from the sun, and so on, and made the audience wild with enthusiasm.

it was really cool to attend the press con of Fashion Concert ^^

It was delayed for about 20 minutes. cause it actually had to start at 3.30pm but because of some reasons, it was delayed and finally started at around 3.50pm.
One thing which annoyed me the most was a bunch of girls infront of my nose who were pretending to be ''reporters'' but were actually Rain fans.
One of them wanted to pretend as someone important to be able to sit at the front xD But she didn't do it anyways because she was scared. ANother girl who was with them was asked to leave the room because she didn't have a press card. They could get press cards because one of the girls had some connections with people from the real press. -__-' Anyway, so i arrived very early and got into the press room and reserved my spot to take some nice pics. BUT all of a sudden, these bunch of girls came in and went more to the front and eventually stood right infront of me i thought it was really rude because they weren't even from the press to take pics and just stand in the front to pretend to be one while the real people from the press were standing behind not being able to take pics for their job. THey should have been more considerate. -__-'

ANyway, that was my little rant When the press con finally started, the male host talked some things and 2 other people came on stage to talk some more. And then Rain finally came out and went on stage. The press got 2 to 3 minutes to take some pics of him. But after only a few seconds the male hosts already told Rain to have a seat. So the people from the press were complaining that it was too short (which really was ) so Rain stayed and so we could take some more pics. And then when he sat down, he introduced himself in Cantonese and said hi. Right after that the hosts began to ask some questions about the Fashion Concert tomorrow and his clothing line six to five. His clothing line will be available in the Hong Kong stores some time soon and he will show some clothes at the Fashion Concert tomorrow. The hosts and Rain himself were wearing Six to five clothes. And lots of HK celebs will be attending tomorrow's Fashion Concert. After that he was asked to say something to the media and the fans. And after that he went off stage again to have some personal interviews with TVB Channel etc. The host thanked Rain that he made some time to hold this press con because he was very busy etc.

Sorry my mind is totally blank right now, so i can't even remember the questions and answers anymore But i've recorded some of his answers ^^ I will post them all tomorrow ^^ He looked really different in real life than in pics and videos xD His face is really skinny and he's really tall! His smile is exactly the same as pics and videos ahaha! it looks cute and dorky at the same time ^^ But thoughout the whole press con he was only sitting and answering a few questions, so almost all my pics look alike hahah! And the pics are really low quality as i had to zoom all the way in because we had to stand 40 feet away from the stage. And the bunch of girls were standing infront of me, so i couldn't get any closer T_T

The whole press con was like 15/20 minutes and when it was over, we all received a press release and a Six to Five t-shirt which looks pretty cool ^^ When i left the building, i saw TVB's interviewer who always interviews the Korean celebs lol she was rushing to go upstairs to have an interview with Rain. THere were quite a number of fans waiting downstairs and outside. Though i couldn't get very close to Rain, but it was a really cool experience ^^

Rain who is at law due to his canceled concert in Hawaii, is alleged to have taken consultation proceedings under the leadership of the U.S federal judge, Cavin Chang.

According to the U.S. federal court data, Rain & his former agent JYP entertainment have continued to have a conference with the plaintiff Click entertainment side, and for this, both sides submitted their witten consent to keep the arrangement secret, to the court.
Judging from what they submitted the agreement, it is likely that a consensus can emerge.

Also, Rain's LA damage suit sued in relation to his canceled concert in LA has come back to LA district court from the federal court in two months owing to the plaintiff's objection.

6to5 Fashion Concert in Hong Kong 5-7 June 2009 – Fan Account

I know many fans were not lucky enough to be able to join us so I want to write up a summary for you all. This is a joint account summing up what some of us have witnessed. Hope you feel It’s Raining on you too as you read it!

5 June Arrival Hong Kong.

Over 200 clouds waited for Rain at the airport. Rainhk has made a beautiful banner. The stupid organizer did not arrange enough securities and as a result Rain had to leave from the so called “secret channel” to avoid chaos. Clearly Rain wanted to greet the fans outside because he poked his head out and waved to them.

Fans then have to run down to greet him as he walked to the car. Some managed to give their gifts to him as he got in.

Rain had dinner in the hotel and then went out for rehearsal in the evening.

6 June 6to5 fashion concert

Many fans started to appear at the venue at about 4 pm, although the concert did not start until 8.15pm. I collected my tickets from Rainhk and they did a marvellous job by giving away a really nice poster and ticket holder for each ticket ordered via Rainhk. Rainhk has also sent a beautiful flower arrangement to Rain.

Queues started to form to buy souvenirs as early as 4.30 pm. While waiting, I saw western and local young men coming for the show and they didn’t seem to be forced by girlfriends to come!! They looked happy so I believe they are fans too!

Again we were extremely disappointed by the poor management of the organizer on this souvenir shopping. As a result there was still a very long queue at 8 pm, when the show was about to begin. (They had to resume shopping after the concert.)

Many fans bought and changed into 6to5 tee shirts on the spot for the show! Rain has said he will perform even better seeing us all wearing cool and chic fashion! What could be cooler and smarter than wearing a 6to5 tee?! He sure is a clever businessman too!

Thanks to Rainhk I got very good seats, and I could really see Rain very closely throughout the night!

He started with “You” leading actress Li Da-hai to the catwalk, followed by other models. After the song he went backstage, and the big screens showing him walking through his hotel corridor into his room. (This was actually pre-recorded). He then sat down on a sofa, a lady pressed his “rocket” (I didn’t see this bit from my angle) and then he pressed a remote control, and the front stage started with the fashion show. I believe these are all Rain’s ideas as he is wearing his Producer hat this time.

The winter/fall clothes are very nice. I am not biased as I have asked people’s opinion and the feedback are all very positive. Designer Rain came out when the fashion show was over – he wore such a colourful rocket Tee! Really envy the CEO who always gets to wear the latest design!

And then it was singer Rain’s stage again! I really could not remember the sequence of the songs, because I went totally wild. I was really close to the right side of the stage, and many, many times Rain just stood right in front of us, killing us all with his magical voice, his sweet smiles, cute expressions, sexy dance movements. He is totally King of the Stage, and his charisma captured us all.

During the show Rain talked to us. He started with Cantonese to introduce himself. Then he asked in Cantonese if we were happy. And a loud reply “YES”. He said he was very happy too. Then he switched to English, asking us if we enjoyed the fashion show, if it was fantastic. Again a loud reply “YES, IT’S FANTASTIC”. He thanked his fans for their support, which gives him strength to always even do better.

We were still in Cloud 9 when he announced it was going to be his last song. Of course we won’t leave and we shouted encore. He then performed Fresh Woman. And a bonus It’s Raining and then he bowed and went backstage and gave us his flying kiss.

Bonus fan account: aftermath

He went to the same Korean restaurant which he went before for dinner after the show at about 10pm. He clearly was in good mood and waved to the fans waiting for him.

Came out from the restaurant at about midnight and went to the Beijing Club. Apparently the organizer has arranged a celebration party there.

Came out at about 4 am, still crisp and clear, smiling and waving to the fans waiting outside.

He’s supposed to leave on Sunday on the 2 pm flight, but we guessed he probably did not want to create chaos and confusion (which happened when he arrived) so he decided to change to an earlier flight and left the hotel at about 8 am for the airport. Probably he also guessed many of us will leave at around the same time in order to follow him into the airport (like me!). He out witted us again!!

So after a lightning visit of less than 48 hours to Hong Kong, he flew back home, leaving all of us still in a dream, missing him even more.

I arrived at the venue at around 17:30 cause i should meet with Phan & Noy (rain thailand) at 18:00, while i was standing in the entrance area, taking a pic of the poster and the seat plan, an asian girl approche me, and asked me, you are from germany right? I said if it would be a full concert, i would go for sure, but not for this show. Its too short, it left you hungry.

From Kungie(rainthailand) i got a cute cute rain-bag, and some gals asked me where i got this from, and i said a friend from rainthailand, and they said: yes yes they always have such cute stuff. After the concert i met with the gals and we went for some food, cause i had to say before the concert i was not hungry hihihi.

Rain currently visited Hong Kong whose his fashion concert was a great success, which showed he is still doing well

According to the biggest portal site 'Sina.com' in China, Rain held the fashion concert at 'Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Center', on the night of the 6th, to promote his clothing brand 6to5.

At this event in the form of a fashion show, over 30 home and foreign models appeared on the stage with wearing 6to5's clothes, and Rain appeared on the stage and radiated his charisma, singing his hit songs such as Rainism, I Do, and so on.

Taiwanese singer Pace Wu, with beautiful slim legs, was selected and invited by Korean young dance king Rain as guest performer on his Hong Kong's Fashion Concert guest performer.

The stage design and choreography for the concert are totally different from the one in Korea. Apparently he will be enhancing the singing performance parts and coming on stage with his brand new Autumn-Winter wear. Over 10 producers and 60 crates of equipment arrived in Hong Kong with him.

With his million-dollar assets frozen since losing a lawsuit in Hawaii after abruptly cancelling a concert there in 2007, the dancing king attaches great importance to this performance. Even before setting off for Hong Kong, Rain has started calling out for his female fans to sing along with him and be in their best attire for concert. The organizer has also produced limited edition souvenirs for sale, including his brand Six to Five.

Special guest performers for the concert include Wu and Hong Kong celebrity Karen Mok.

RAIN IS SEOUL’S GLOBAL GOODWILL AMBASSADOR






Rain is definitely Korea's darling!

The Korean government has appointed entertainer Rain 비 (real name Jung Ji-hoon) global goodwill ambassador.

The appointment was held at 4:50pm on 09 June, 2009 at Seoul City Hall Annex (in one of the conference rooms). The appointment was initially scheduled for 25th May but was postponed due to the death of Korean former president Roh Moo-hyun.

Rain is chosen because it is believed that the 27-year old star is highly influential and will be able to market the city of Seoul internationally. Rain has been voted as U.S. Time Magazines 100 most influential people in the world and will be in the Hollywood movie Ninja Assassin (which will be released by end 2009).

Also, Rain appeared twice in the "world class" documentary channel Discovery (yes, he was featured in Hip Korea) and was named "master of the Korean Wave" (okay, i know others who have contributed to the Korean wave, so this is a highly debatable).

Korean pop icon Rain was appointed as global goodwill ambassador for Seoul in the annex of Seoul City Hall on Tuesday afternoon, receiving the appointment plate from Mayor Oh Se-hoon.

Here's the latest update on his case in hawaii. :X

The lawsuit that had to do with canceling of Rain's concert last March in Hawaii was settled outside of courts on the 12th for an undisclosed amount. The juries judgment included that Rain and JYP Entertainment were to pay Click Entertainment $8 Million Dollars, however the Judge acknowledged the judgment of the juries to be incorrect. This settlement is expected to play a role in the Los Angeles lawsuit as well.

Initially, when the Hawaiian jury made their judgment, the judge told the jury to rethink the amount. The judge felt that the juries decision was wrong so he told the parties to try and work it out themselves. It is speculated that they settled for $2.2 Million Dollars, the calculated loss of Click Entertainment.

It is reported that the judge played a huge role in this trial.

Rain Settles in Hawaii Lawsuit




Singer Rain and his old agency, JYP Entertainment, agreed on a settlement with Click Entertainment, which sued the Korean singer for canceling out on concerts in Hawaii. Rain lost the suit and was ordered to pay more than 8 million dollars in damage to Click Entertainment. The amount of the settlement has not been disclosed, but it’s estimated to be much lower than the initial compensation.

Industry insiders say that the judge asked the two sides three times to come to a settlement in the wake of the first trial. This supposedly illustrated that the judge thought the jury’s verdict was wrong. Rain and JYP Entertainment had immediately filed for an appeal after the March ruling. The settlement is expected to considerably influence another suit against Rain pending in Los Angeles.

Korean soccer player 'Park Ji-Seong' and singer Rain will run together on the ground.


These two will participate in a soccer school for young boys as a head coach and a vice-coach respectively on a specially prepared ground of the high-water-level land by the Han River on July 23, which will be held under '2009 Seoul Infinity Dream Series' by Manchester United F.C, one of professional soccer teams in U.K.

According to the soccer interested, "This event that is a soccer school for young boys, is in preparation as part of Manchester United's Asia tour. 'Park Ji-Seong' belonging to the team will do something, offering to take on a one-day head coach, and Rain known as a fan of 'Park Ji-Seong' will grace the occasion with his presence, getting in on the act."

Hello everyone, this is Cloud Term 7th Board Members.

Here is the notice about the Macau Fashion Concert next week related FanMeeting issue.


Since RainUnion & RainHK both fan websites have indicated their interest in holding a FanMeeting to celebrate Rain’s birthday in Macau, they both submitted proposal and asked for Rain’s participation.

However, Rain is impossible to attend both parties at the same time. Thus, J.Tune looked for the possibility of two parties merge into one if they concern Rain participation.

Unfortunately, both Fans representatives have their own position, mutual agreement can’t be made.



It is not appropriate to attend one party and mutual agreement can’t be made. It’s a pity if it causes the cancellation of FanMeeting. In fact, artist, JTune and Fans feel sorry about it.



After discussion with Macau local promoter and Venetian Hotel, it concludes that FanMeeting will be directly held by them. It probably is the best solution.

(Compared with those two fan websites proposed events, it will be a bigger event instead. More Cloud members may attend)



The most important thing is “Artist and Fans” can be met.

An apology to RainUnion and RainHK, make every effort on this event.

Of course, if both Fans side don’t concern on Rain’s participation; and decided to organize their own FanMeeting (or Fan Gathering), J.Tune and Cloud Term 7th Board Members are not qualified to make any comment.


However, both sides indicated their interest in Rain’s participation. In order to make this event happen, we did asked for the coordination of both sides. Once again, we truly ask for understanding.


Here is the notice. The only FanMeeting which Rain might attend will be organized by Macau local Promoter and Venetian Hotel. Those Cloud whom might attend the Macau FanMeeting, please attention!

[June-29-2009]Rain's Macau fashion concert was a great success in spite of nasty weather, and it made more than 4,500 fans wild with enthusiasm.


Rain's Macau fashion concert hall was getting hot from ardor of the audiences due to his passionate performance.


Rain hold his own fashion brand 6to5 fashion concert at Cotai Arena inside of Venetian Hotel in Macau last Saturday afternoon(27th).


A strong attachment between Rain and his fans could never be broken off due to nasty weather in Macau.


According to Rain's agent, his Macao fan meeting which would be held out of door on the 27th was canceled owing to a downpour, but more than 4,500 fans visited the fashion concert and were crazy about his every gesture.


Rain sang his hit songs, such as I Do, Fresh Woman, It's Raining, Instead of Saying Good Bye, and Bad Guy including Rainism, and they gave shouts all through the fashion concert.


And more than 20 Taiwanese entertainers came to see the concert and enjoyed 'the king of the performance' whose stage,
Rain was grateful for the support he received, "I never forget this show, and I'll remember each of you."


Meanwhile, his fans prepared a surprise event for his 27th birthday and sang 'Happy Birthday Song' for him, which moved him deeply.


"In fact, we were sorry that his fan meeting was canceled, but Rain was thankful to his fans' careful concern." Ran's agent conveyed the highly elated atmosphere at the scene of the fashion concert.


Rain who departed from the country for Macau fashion concert, 2nights and 3days, last 26th, will return home on the 29th.

Rain – Song Hye Gyo’s drama ‘Full House’ to be remade in Taiwan




Actress Song Hye Gyo and Rain’s drama ‘Full House’ will have a remake version in Taiwan.

A broadcast company in Taiwan has announced that they are preparing to remake the drama.

A Taiwanese news portal site UDN said, “There will be a Taiwan version of ‘Full House’. It will be a production worth over 3 million dollars. It can be expected that the Taiwanese version of ‘Full House’ will rouse the interests of many even overseas.”

It is said that the male character to the remake drama will be actor Wu Zhun from idol group Fahrenheit and female character be Zhou Xun.

Hollywood Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen actress Megan Fox recently openly expressed her interest in Korean star Rain and also a desire to date the latter, who replied plainly to her invite, "I'm not interested."

According to media reports, Fox has spoke numerously about her admiration for Rain while on the movie promotional tour.

And that was not just a comment made by Fox; she has indeed extended a dinner date to Rain through her manager but was rejected by the Korean star who was "not interested".

Yet, the rejection did not wound her pride and ironically, it has built up stronger interest of Rain in Fox who recently criticized the comparison of herself to Angelina Jolie.

To call him the ‘Asian Justin Timberlake’ doesn’t cover all the ways in which Asian mega-star ‘Rain’ (Jung Ji-hoon) from South Korean wows his fans. The Asian star machines crank out large numbers of pop stars, but Rain is one of those versatile performers who is always seeking a new challenge. After a role in the Wachowski brothers’ “Speed Racer”, Rain is taking a lead in “Ninja Assassin,” due out this fall according to today’s Korea Herald.

Will posters of Rain be adorning American teenage girls’ walls? Check out these photos in YeinJee’s Asian Journal and see for yourself. Rain’s attempt to conquer the American pop market was off to a shaky start in 2007, when canceled concerts drew lawsuits from promoters. Concerts in Hawaii and Los Angeles, where the South Korean star has many fans already, were canceled for a variety of technical reasons.

Asian music and culture has long been popular in the U.S., with ‘Hello Kitty’ one of the most prominent logos, and clashes such as the name battle between cute Japanese pop duo “Puffy Ami Yumi” (originally ‘Puffy’) coming up against Sean “Puff Daddy” Coombs. Most Asian pop is still found mostly in specialty markets and stores that sell related merchandise such as ‘manga’ books.

Rain hopes to change all that, and he’s got the personality, looks, voice and broad appear to do it, and the merchandise to make it attractive to American promoters.

Ninja Assassin’, from ‘The Matrix’ creators the Wachowski brothers, will place Rain in a classic martial arts drama, based on Japanese tradition, telling a tale of betrayal and revenge. Not a typical ‘pop star’ role, Rain’s ambition and range of talent could rival top American stars. As a true international star, Rain might not be as vulnerable to the cycles of stardom and destruction that haunt American stars such as Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe.

Foreign members of idol K-pop bands recently gathered at Yonhap News for an interview. They were Nichkhun (21), who has dual American and Thai citizenships, A’ST1’s Tomo (22) from Japan, Haiming (22) from China, and Alexander (21) of U-Kiss from Hong Kong.

Nichkhun of 2PM revealed his early experiences of Korea, saying, "I was scolded severely when I stuck my chopsticks into a bowl of rice. Later I learned that in Korea this is done only at ancestral worship ceremonies. I have grown to like samgyepsal and doenjang stew. I’m a real Korean now.”

Haiming of A’ST1 said, "I was scared to come to Korea because I heard that etiquette was very strict here. We don’t have a polite form of talking in China. It’s very difficult.”

They all came to Korea between 2005 and 2007 and they all speak Korean fluently. They’re well-versed in Korean slang, and they know how to write their names in Korean as well as the names of President Lee Myung-bak and late President Roh Moo-hyun. Moreover, they know how to swear in Korean.

Nichkhun was cast by JYP Entertainment in 2006 when he drew the agency’s attention at a Korean culture festival in Los Angeles. He said, "I auditioned at a coffee shop by singing and dancing. Back then I had no idea who Park Jin-young was.” Tomo, who visited Korea in 2005 as a tourist, ended up as a singer after he caught the eye of Lee Hyo-ri’s stylist. Despite strong opposition from his father, who is a martial arts champion in Japan, he dropped out of college and began training as a singer that same year at DSPent.

Harbin-born Haiming developed an interest in Korea after he saw singer Rain in the KBS TV2 drama “Full House.” He enrolled in the Department of Cinema of Chungang University in 2006. He was cast by Lee Hyo-ri’s manager when he was taking dancing classes at a dance school in Seoul because he wanted to be like Rain. Recently he drew the spotlight by appearing in the popular TV drama “Boys Over Flowers.”

Alexander, who has a Hong Kong father and a Korean mother, was studying in college in San Francisco when he came to Korea in 2007 to visit his relatives. He drew the attention of his current boss at a hotel fitness club.

All these foreigners say their singing careers in Korea will serve as a springboard for their debuts in other countries. But achieving their dreams in a foreign land was a big challenge to them. The biggest obstacle was learning Korean. Tomo said, "I attended a Korean-language school to learn how to talk politely in Korean but it was of no help. I learned by watching the TV drama 'Super Rookie' because I like actress Han Ga-in. I also learned a lot by communicating with my teammates.”

Nichkhun added that when his Korean was still very poor, he happened to appear on an SBS TV talk show but he couldn’t say a word because the other guests were very eloquent. He also said, laughing, that he once talked to Park Jin-young in an impolite form. Alexander said he is so concerned about talking politely that he uses polite words even when talking to younger people.

On the question of what their initial impression of Korea was like, Haiming said he thought that Seoul was a city of only rich people when he watched “Full House,” but that he saw many poor people here after he came to Korea. Tomo said it was easy for him to get acclimated to Korean culture because he had never been interested in Korea before. He said he learned about historic conflicts between Korea and Japan only after he came to Korea and that sometimes he watches soccer and baseball matches between Korea and Japan alone in saunas.

Because all these singers are men, they also showed interest in the issue of military service in Korea. Haiming said, "In China, those who serve in the military receive many benefits, but because the population is so big, there are many volunteers. Sometimes there are not enough vacancies. I was left alone after all my college friends in Korea began their military service. At first I couldn’t understand why Korean men had to serve in the military." Nichkhun, on the other hand, said Thai men also have to fulfill their military duty, though they are picked by a lottery.

Next, the guests discussed inter-Korean relations and North Korea’s nuclear tests. Haiming said, "My mother was worried after she saw the news about Korea. She told me to seek help at the embassy if anything happens. Things apparently look more troublesome on the outside than inside Korea.” Nichkhun said, "When there was political unrest in Thailand, Thai people didn’t worry that much. But foreigners thought of Thailand as a dangerous area. The same is happening in Korea.”

On the question on what they find hard to understand in Korea and what they like here, Nichkhun said he can’t understand why a small face is regarded as attractive in Korea. He said, “Before I came to Korea, nobody told me that my face was small.” Haiming, for his part, said people in Korea tell him all the time that his face is too big.

As for what they admire in Koreans, the guests chose Koreans’ patriotism. They said when they saw Koreans gather in front of City Hall during the World Cup and during the late President Roh Moo-hyun’s funeral, they realized that Korea would never collapse. They said, "We’re grateful to Korea for giving us this chance and we don’t regret having come here."

Each of these young men has a dream. Nichkhun said he is interested in acting and someday wants to debut in Hollywood. Haiming said he wants to stage a performance for his mother in China, while Alexander said he wants to return to Hong Kong as a famous person.

Once the interview was over, the four patted one another on the back and agreed to gather together someday. “We could make our own show. It’d be fun," they joked in Korean.

World star Rain has suggested meeting with sexy Hollywood star Megan Fox. Aired on MBC Section TV Entertainment show on 3rd July has hinted that he did not know that he may just be interested with a date with Megan Fox.

According to a rep from Rain’s company J.Tune Entertainment, the star has been looking favorably at several proposals for drama roles, and plans to make his final decision soon. One possibility is with a project whose writer made the suggestion directly to the star himself, and as they are close friends, Rain is said to be considering that role seriously. Rain had at one point decided to make his television comeback last year, but development fizzled on the project. This would be his first drama in four years, following 2005’s revenge series A Love to Kill. He’s done several films in the interim — I’m a Cyborg But That’s Okay, Speed Racer, Ninja Assassin — but arguably hasn’t been able to reclaim the visibility he’d enjoyed at his peak, around the time of his incredibly popular 2004 trendy drama Full House co-starring Song Hye-gyo and his third album (”It’s Raining”).

(Personally, I think his somewhat haphazard approach to breaking into the American market set him back quite a bit. Without the proper organization and strategic planning required for such a huge undertaking, his career screeched to a halt back home as he dropped out of the spotlight for several years — eons in showbiz time. SINGER RAIN TO HELP HANSIK GLOBALIZATION



Singer Rain will join Korea's efforts to help the world enjoy its indigenous food, other wise known as ``hansik."

The international acclaimed singer, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, was appointed Monday as a point man for the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in leading the hansik globalization initiative.

``Hansik is seriously making its debut on the world stage but, with Rain's help, it will in no time become food everybody can enjoy, like the world enjoying Rain's music,'' Minister Chang Tae-pyong said, while presenting the singer with a plaque and certificate at his office in the Gacheon Government Complex.

The minister said that Rain would participate in hansik banquets for foreign dignitaries and help them to learn and enjoy Korean food.

Rain will serve as ``Hansik Ambassador'' for the next year, starring in promotional videos and taking part in related events. His hit number, ``I do,'' was played as background music during the ceremony and for a video clip entitled, ``Rain Soaked in the Beauty of Hansik.''

A ministry official said that inviting Rain to assist in the globalization of hansik shows that Korea is very serious about turning the food industry into its future growth engine.

Under Minister Chang's leadership, Korea is pushing hard with a variety of related efforts from the standardization of hansik dishes to the provision of incentives for big hotels to open up hansik restaurants. In the ministry's annual food expo in October, a competition is scheduled for new and aspiring chefs.

Singer Rain has been named PR ambassador for Korean food. The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries appointed Rain on July 13 at the Gwacheon Government Complex. Over the next year, Rain will appear in video materials publicizing Korean cuisine and attend major events related to Korean food.

Rain said, "To me, Korean food is like a mother and my primary instinct. While holding overseas concert tours and filming movies, I always wished that Korean food was more competitive so that more people could enjoy it. I'm thankful for this opportunity to publicize it." The singer added, "Chinese and Japanese cuisines are very popular abroad compared to Korean cuisine. I want to publicize the health benefits of Korean food so that people all over the world can enjoy kimchi and tteokbokki."

Rain says his favorite Korean dish is tteokbokki, which he said made a perfect snack that he used to enjoy while at school.

The minister for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries expressed his appreciation to Rain for taking on his new role and said he hopes that, with Rain's help, Korean cuisine will become as big a star as Rain in the global arena. Speaking of martial arts films, Ninja Assassin, the long-awaited martial-arts action film from the Wachowski brothers and director James McTeigue – who’s also attached to helm X-Men Origins: Magneto – isn’t on the official Warner Bros. Comic-Con schedule, but rumor on the web is that it could have a secret screening, and may be a surprise addition to Warner Brothers’ Friday panel in Hall H.

Ninja Assassin, co-written by Matthew Sand and J. Michael Straczynski, is due in theaters on November 25, 2009, and tells the story of Raizo, one of the deadliest assassins in the world, who was taken from the streets as a child and transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is a myth. Haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them and vanishes, awaiting his chance to exact revenge. 09 Jul 20 Secret Screening Revealed! Warner Brothers To Show Ninja Assassin At Comic Con

When Warner Bros. announced their Comic-Con schedule, the first film I looked for was “Ninja Assassin”. After all, the film arrives in theaters November 25th, so it’s a perfect movie to promote at the convention. Also, as a big fan of “V for Vendetta” (which was the last pairing of the Wachowski Brothers and director James McTeigue), “Ninja Assassin” is on my must see list. So when it wasn’t on the list of films being promoted, I was a bit concerned.

But thanks to an extremely reliable source, I can report the reason they weren’t promoting the film during their panel is because they are showing the entire film at Comic-Con. And the best part for all of you, it’s open to the public! Want to know how to go, it’s after the jump:

According to my source, the screening day and time is still being determined. They told me they’re hearing Thursday night. But while the exact info is still being figured out, I can tell you how to get tickets for the free screening.

What you need to do is go to the Warner Brothers booth on Thursday as they’re going to be giving away a limited amount of tickets. Then you’ll need to get to the theater early as it’s going to be first come first served. Meaning, even if you get tickets at the booth, you’re going to want to be at the theater early as they’re giving away more tickets than seats. It’s how they make sure the theater is full.

If you’re a fan of the Wachowski Brothers and director James McTeigue, this is a great way to see the film for free and you’d be part of the first audience getting to see it.

As someone who knows how the movie studios do business, if they’re showing the film this early, it means Warner Bros. is extremely confident in the project.

Finally, if you’re going to be at Comic-Con Wednesday for preview night and want to go to a free screening, Warner Bros. is doing one for “Orphan” the same way. They’re giving away tickets at the WB booth when the convention opens and then it’s open seating at the theater. Since nothing goes on Wednesday night, this could be a great way to spend the evening.

Stars Putting Their Fame to Good Use

Many events, organizations and public groups hire celebrities, both popular and up-and-coming, to act as spokespersons and goodwill ambassadors, and the reason is simple: They attract attention.

"It's all about the attention effect. The main goal for an advertisement or a promotion would be actual purchasing or participation. But before that, you have to attract people to get them involved. Hiring big stars is indeed one of the most effective ways to catch the public's attention," professor Kang Seung-koo of the Media Arts and Science Department at Korea Open University told The Korea Times.

One of the busiest stars here, Rain, already has three commercial contracts under his belt. He holds two important posts, as spokesman for both Seoul City and "hansik," or Korean food, tapped by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

"There have been various offers, and we choose depending on the image and cause. Rain always mentioned that he wanted to promote Korea and the culture as much as he could, and promoting Seoul and hansik seemed like a good way to start,'' an official from Rain's agency J.Tune Entertainment told The Korea Times.

"Rain topped the Time 100 Poll, Time magazine's online poll of the 100 most influential people of the year, in 2007 and he has a movie coming out that will premiere worldwide. He's not only well known in Asia, but he has also started to attract attention in other parts of the world as well,'' said Kim Jeong-wook, a public information officer at the ministry, adding that the singer will participate in events to promote Korean food.

Numerous other celebrities have used their celebrity for more personal causes.

Veteran actress Ko Doo-shim was appointed a goodwill ambassador for her home region of Jeju Island. Ko has participated in various events and festivals for the island and worked to further promote the island she calls home. Recently, she was appointed as cultural ambassador for the 3rd Delphic Games that will be held on Jeju.

Actress Park Eun-hye was hired to help promote Incheon through the 2009 Incheon Korean Wave Festival and Yoon So-na does the same for Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. Park was born and raised in Incheon, and Yoon in Jeonju

Singer Kang Won-rae serves as the spokesman for the National Rehabilitation Center. Kang was left paralyzed from the waist down in a motorcycle accident in 2000, and took on the role after he overcame the tragedy and maintained his position as a star. He supports physically challenged children and participates in various volunteer and welfare programs, according to the center.

In the case of Kim Jung-eun, who became the goodwill ambassador for the Gwangju Kimchi Cultural Festival 2009, her appointment was a win-win strategy for both the event and her work. The festival committee said they have signed a contract to support Kim's upcoming film "Le Grand Chef 2: Kimchi Wars" (working title), which will help the movie, and kimchi, gain recognition.

Actress Han Ji-min is one of them. She has been continuously supporting the Korean branch of international relief agency JTS ever since she was appointed as its spokeswoman from 2007. She recently visited the Philippines to support under privileged children, where she taught, cooked and even danced with them.

Even fans have stepped up to do their part for the causes their favorite stars promote. Members of pop group Super Junior's fan club, Elf, donated blood donation tickets, money, ramyeon and even rice to support under privileged children and premature infants.

"As (the stars') final goal is to promote the event or organization, it all depends on how they follow up after being noticed. Once they've attracted attention, they must encourage the public to be involved in what they are promoting, which is much more than just smiling and having photos taken,'' Kang advised.

It's been long since I had a glance on this movie, but I guess it's finally being released after so long.

The actions and graphics have long been finished with and since there haven¡¯t been any complaints on additional work to my graphic team, there won't be much differences made.

Frankly I don't like violent movies. Not to mention horror films also. But I like action and martial arts and since it stars Rain, being a Korean myself, I took a look at it.

'Ninja Assassin' Director James McTeigue Extols Rain's 'Star Charisma'



The Korean pop star attempts to take the ninja genre back to the mainstream this November.

In Hollywood, the ninja has either been a joke — think mutated turtles, Chris Farley, suburban adolescent wannabes — or strictly the stuff of narrowly focused genre flicks. In the last few years, though, ninjas have begun to get some mainstream respect, with appearances in movies like 2005's "Batman Begins" and this summer's "G.I. Joe." Can they once again carry their own mainstream movie? With "Ninja Assassin," director James McTeigue is not only sharpening his sword to slice and dice moviegoers' opinion of the stealthy, acrobatic fighters once and for all — he's planning on doing so with a cast of relative unknowns in the U.S.

But McTeigue's got skills molding genre material for the big screen — he was a key player in "The Matrix" trilogy and the director of "V for Vendetta" — and his lead actor happens to be one of the biggest pop stars in Asia. If you've never heard of Rain, you're about to, as the director explained to MTV News.

So, you've got an international celebrity and a director with serious fanboy cred. What else does it take to bring the honorable ninja out from the depths of B-moviedom? McTeigue assembled a cast of strong supporting actors, secured a Hollywood-size budget and made sure the script emphasized character as much as it did action.

The story focuses on Rain's Raizo, who is picked up off the streets as a child and trained to be — what else? — a wickedly skilled ninja assassin. All grown up, Raizo ends up turning against the folks who taught him to be a killing machine and makes it his life's mission to end all this assassination business. Unsurprisingly, the others ninjas don't take kindly to this sort of career advice, and a cross-European battle royal ensues.

"You have to keep the essence of the ninja movie," McTeigue explained. "But if you want to take it above the usual kind of ninja movie, you need to give it a decent story. But make no mistake — it's a ninja movie."

In addition to the character-driven elements in "Ninja," when the movie hits theaters on November 25, expect loads of funky weapons (swords, throwing stars, chain-blade combos called kusarigama) and wild fight choreography (incorporating elements of parkour, kung fu and sword combat). In other words, there's a little something for everyone.

"For me, the film is a cross between anime, video games and film noir," McTeigue said.

[TALK OF THE TOWN] Rain forecast for this weekend



Korean pop star Rain will be kicking off his Asian tour this weekend in Japan.

The singer will perform both Saturday and Sunday at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama City. Tickets for the concert, titled, “Legend of Rainism 2009: Rain Asia Tour in Japan,” are already all sold out according to J.Tune Entertainment, Rain’s management agency.

After his performances in Japan, the singer will stage concerts in Seoul and Hong Kong in October and December, respectively.

“Because he’ll be promoting his Hollywood movie ‘Ninja Assassin’ in November, he only has a few dates on his tour schedule,” said an official at J.Tune.

“But though there are only a small number of concerts, we’re all doing more to increase the quality of the performances.”

Hi Michsolo, thanks for posting this here. Gosh, his diet – chicken breast & vegetable everyday for 8- months. I’d be sick if I have to eat the same thing everyday for that long. I really admire him for having that discipline & determination. His diet was really the hardest part in his training in this movie. No salt in the food is really terrible. Wondering if he still vomits every time he sees chicken breast now? Hahaha – Because knowing RAIN – he loves food! :)

I saw Rain, just at a stone's throw, at Haneda Airport on the way home early the next morning after his 2009 Legend of Rainism in Japan.

Starring Korean Star Rain and assembled by the team behind The Matrix - James McTeigue directs,

Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers produce - it aims to be the most OTT fight-fest yet put on-screen.

"Some people get cut up into pieces, others explode," laughs McTeigue. "It's an homage to the ninja films

of the past. I wanted to make it really visceral, a blend of anime, horror and film noir, all in one."

The idea came up on the set of Speed Racer, as the Wachowskis shot a crazy brawl involving

Rain's character. And soon the actor found himself locked in a gym. "It was 12 hour a day,

six days a week, for four months," he says. "Everyday I threw up. It almost killed me."

He plays Raizo, an orphan who grows up to be - duh!- a ninja assassin.

Naomie Harris has the more sedate role, as a forensics researcher who gets sucked into the adventure.

Although, she says,"I still get covered in blood!"

Ninja Assassin is out on November 27.

*** Aww………..poor guy! I feel bad to hear that. But we could see the result of this in the movie – what a body! Well, no pain, no gain! I hope it’s all worth it. There’s nothing wrong with this diet, even I, would go for it but eating them for 8-months is too much! Now, he gained a little weight but he could always keep up with leaner body anytime through dancing. He works hard for his body as well! My calendar has been marked ever since the movie has been confirmed to be released on November 25. Just can’t wait to watch it – it’s been a while since I watched a movie. GO, RAIN! :cool:

According to Korean media reports, during a recent interview with a television station, South Korean pop singer-dancer-actor, Rain, revealed his strict dietary meals during the filming for his upcoming Hollywood movie, Ninja Assassin. He exclaimed that the meals were "scary, horrible" and "never wants to do it again!"

Talk of his fearful dietary meals instilled so much fear in the performer that he shivers in fear at the mere mention of it. To portray a thinner and leaner body frame for the movie, he started undergoing special training sessions two months before filming began. He faced strict restrictions on his dietary habits and was limited to eating only salmon, chicken breast meat and some nuts.

Although this diet successfully helped Rain to shed 10kg for the movie, the food-lover underwent considerable pain and suffering to attain the weight-loss. "Whenever I think about that period of time, I feel really scared. I do not want to do this again -especially when food is sacred to me. It is too painful to have your diet limited and controlled."

OMG! OMG! OMG! This must be my lucky day.


I saw Rain being interviewed in a park right below where I worked. My coworker came up from buying lunch and told me and at first I didn’t believe him. So YF and I went downstairs and confirmed. It was him! He looked so good. Had sunglasses on, black suit and nice gelled hair. He looked younger and slightly shorter in real life tho. He looked taller and more mature on TV. When I was sure it was him, I totally freaked out. I mean, he was right there…sitting in the park bench doing his interview and I’m like right across the street watching. I walked across the street hoping that when he’s done with his interview, I can ask for a picture. But I so chickened out. Yeah, you say you’ll slobber a celeb and ask for autograph and pictures when you see one, but when you’re actually face to face with them, it’s actually pretty nerve racking. I was totally freaked out. I mean, how often do you see an international star sitting in a park doing an interview. Plus, there wasn’t a lot of people around him. Just the few people doing the interview and maybe his manager. But gosh! I am totally mad at myself after he left cuz I was too chicken to ask for a picture. After he was done with the interview, he shook hands with them and thanked them and then walked really fast to the mini van that he probably rented for the day. He also attended some opening in 5th Avenue today for MCM. MCM is an European bag brand. You’ll probably be able to find a fan vid on YT of him at the opening. I wonder where he’s staying? Anyways, since I didn’t get any pix of him, I was totally disappointed.





’m here thinking how I should’ve acted and it’s so disappointing to not have done anything but freaked out. I should have called out to him after his interview and asked for a photo or at least shake his hand or something. Instead, I stood around all nervous not knowing what the heck to do. You know, it’s very rare that you see international stars around the city. So his appearance knocked the socks off of me. This was something I had hoped for four years ago. To meet Rain or at least go to one of his concerts. But ever since the time I found out about him to this day, he hasn’t had any concerts in NYC. Well…he did plan one but was cancelled due to some court case. So I bought tickets but never got to see it. Disappointment! But I always have my hopes up for someday to meet him in person. Well…today there goes my chance. I was almost face to face with him. We were literally just 6 feet away. He was busy shaking hands with the interview people and I was just standing there trying to look casual but really just freaking out not knowing what the hell to do but watch him walk away. SIGH! I text my friend and told her I saw Rain and she said maybe someday, I’ll get a chance to see DBSK in person. Oh, I think if that happens someday, I will freeze 5 times more because there’s five of them. Or maybe I would’ve already fainted. This was definitely a moment that I will regret not doing anything. Well…looking on the bright side, at least I got to see him in person. One HOT man is all I gotta say!

09 Sept 17 J.Tune Ent: 1 Bil Won Worth Damage? Will Take Firm Stance

J.Tune Entertainment took their stance against La Cle Creative, who sued them for 1 billion won worth damage on the 16th. (about $ 829,187)

On the afternoon of September 17th, J.Tune said that “It is true that we tried to carry out various business with La Cle through ‘2008 Rain 5th Album Showcase’, but it turned out to be impossible since we couldn’t come to an agreement with the affiliates.

The contents business contract regarding the showcase was conducted under the condition, when unable to come to an agreement with affiliates, will be terminated.

Thus this contract was concluded without any compensation, including minimum guarantee (MG) regarding the business.”

“This was made clear during the meeting with La Cle’ s official, and because the contract was not valid, we tried to close the gap by allowing La Cle to sell MD only, but this too didn’t come to an agreement and became void.

Thus, in a moral manner, J.Tune allowed selling of MD through off and on-line sales during the event on December 2008” explains JTune.

They added “We promised that if La Cle’s proposals are better than other companies during J.Tune’s 5th album promotion, we can carry out the business together.”

J.Tune continued by saying “ The proposal from La Cle on March 19th, 2009 contained items such as ‘concert-connected events, fan meeting model development and implementation’ ‘drama co-work’ ‘copyright of official concert MD and DVD’ ‘rights over foreign customers’ ‘proposal and agreement of items during promotion if under La Cle ’s capability’ ‘co-work on profitable items which La Cle is planning’, and they were unreasonable demands which JTune cannot accept. There were no further agreements between us after that.”

Meanwhile, J.Tune cleared the fact that “this issue has nothing to do with Rain as an individual, it is an issue between two companies. We cannot understand how they received 1 billion KRW worth damage, thus will take a firm stance through a lawyer.”

"Ninja Assassin" reveals opening date



The official opening date and movie poster for "Ninja Assassin", starring Korean superstar Rain, have been revealed, according to a press release.

The Hollywood action flick will open on November 26 and the poster released on Tuesday had the phrase "Kill the Ninja" written on it.

"Ninja" has spent ten years in the making by the Wachowski Brothers, famous for "The Matrix" trilogy, and producer Joel Silver, who created the "Die Hard" and "Lethal Weapon" series. The film was directed by James McTeigue of "V for Vendetta" and co-stars English actress Naomie Harris, who appeared in the "Pirates of the Carribbean" movie series.

Rain plays the lead role Raizo, an unfortunate character who has to fight the very organization that trained him to become the best secret assassin in the world.

The Korean singer and actor went through months of rigorous training and dieting for the role, reportedly training five hours a day under the guidance of the martial arts team who also worked on the movie "300".

"Ninja" has been hyped as one of the 50 most anticipated films of the year by U.K. newspaper The Times and one of the top 10 movies selected by the San Francisco Examiner.

Rain to attend F1 with Beyonce

Along with world pop diva Beyonce, Korean pop star Rain will attend the Formula One (F1) car racing competition in Singapore.

Rain was invited to the "2009 F1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix," which will be held on Sept. 27, along with several Western stars: Lindsay Lohan, No Doubt, and the Black Eyed Peas.

According to Rain's agency J. Tune Entertainment, this event will be part of the promotion for Rain's new film "Ninja Assassin," which will be released in November.

Rain appeared on a Singapore entertainment news program titled "F1 Rocks" before the race event. This TV show will be on air through BBC, ESPN, Fuji TV, CCTV, and MTV channels to nearly 200 nations, including the United States.

F1 is a popular sport that 600 million people, on average, watch during every race.

Returning to Korea on Thursday morning, Rain is now passionate about preparing for his concerts named "2009 Asia tour: Legend of Rainism" at the Olympic Gymnasium in Seoul on Oct. 9 and 10.

Everywhere you look F1 Rocks, which is sponsored by LG, is in action. The F1 Rocks team have pitted racing drivers such as Jensen Button, Lewis Hamilton and Australian driver MarkWebber, against rock, pop and film stars to add some spice to the run-up to the Grand Prix.


Mark spent Wednesday afternoon learning how to kickbox with Ninja Assassin actor Rain, who has become Hollywood's hottest martial arts star since Jackie Chan.

Jack Osbourne is here too and has been seen whizzing around in an F1 car as part of a challenge set down by Button. And free runners have been scaling Singapore landmarks, dressed in F1 race gear.

Singapore has also been invaded by rock and pop stars for three F1 Rocks shows that lead up to the race. Last night, the big names of Asian pop music played in Singapore's Fort Canning Park to 10,000 people.
